Solingen – Remscheid – Wuppertal II is one of the 299 single member constituencies (German: ''Wahlkreis'') used for the German parliament, the Bundestag. It is one of sixty four districts in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The constituency elects one representative under the mixed member proportional representation (MMP) system. Under the current constituency numbering system, it is designated as constituency 103. The constituency was created for the 2002 election. The 2002 and 2005 elections were won by the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). In the 2009 election the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) candidate Jürgen Hardt gained the constituency and held it at the 2013 election. ==History and boundaries== A Remscheid – Solingen constituency existed from 1949 to 1965 when both became the centre of their own constituencies. A ''Solingen – Remscheid'' constituency was recreated for the 1980 election and expanded to take in parts of the abolished Wuppertal II constituency for the 2002 election. The current constituency includes Solingen and Remscheid, together with the Cronenberg, and Ronsdorf districts of Wuppertal.〔(Constituency boundaries ), bundeswahlleiter.de, accessed 20 April 2015〕
